If existing Voodoo Banshee drivers are being updated, installation is complete once step 9 is done. 1) Extract the files for the Voodoo Banshee driver to a directory. 2) Log-in to Windows NT as Administrator. 3) Click Start, Contol Panel. Double-click on Display. 4) Click the settings tab then click "Change" 6) Click "Have Disk" and enter the path to the extracted drivers. 7) When asked to choose a device, select "Voodoo Banshee" 8) You may then be prompted to insert the Windows NT Voodoo Banshee Driver Disk. Enter the path to the drivers again. 9) Windows NT will copy the drivers. Steps 10-13 are only used during a fresh installation 10) Power off the system and remove your existing 2D card. 11) Install the Voodoo Banshee Card in a free PCI/AGP Slot 12) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post 13) Start Windows NT. If problems occur, revert to "Last Known Good" from within the Windows NT startup options. Known Issues 1) Occasionally, when exiting Unreal, you come back to a black screen. Your system has not crashed. (Workaround: Move the mouse around and click to regain the desktop back again. To gain all colors back, right click on the desktop to and select "Properties". Select the Tab for "Settings". Change from your current display resolution to some other resolution, then click back on your setting and hit "Apply". For example: I am running at 800x600, I slide the bar to 640x480, then I slide the bar back to 800x600 and click "Apply".). 2) When playing Quake/Quake2 changing resolutions after you've begun the game may result in a crash, with the following error message, "Server was Killed" (Workaround: Do not attempt to change resolutions, once you've begun playing the game). Installation Procedures for the following Games: Unreal 1) Install Unreal. 2) Download 2 patches. From 3Dfiles, get "unrealpatch101.exe" at http://www.3dfiles.com/patches/unreal.shtml. Then go to Epic's Unreal site at http://unreal.epicgames.com/ and click on "Updates & Patches" on the left and get the files entitled Version 209 Public Beta (UnrealBeta209.zip) 3) Run the "unrealpatch101.exe" first by double clicking on it. It will ask the location that Unreal was installed in. Type it in or browse to it's directory (e.g. C:\Unreal). 4) Once that has completed, unzip the file "UnrealBeta209.zip" into the directory C:\Unreal\System\ where C: is the drive you have Unreal installed on. 5) Start Unreal through the Start Menu>Programs>Unreal>Play Unreal.exe and when it prompts you if you have a 3Dfx card installed, choose "Yes". When Unreal then tells you that "Unreal is only compatible with Voodoo 1 and Voodoo 2 cards…" and asks if you still want to use your 3Dfx card, choose "Yes". 6) Play Unreal! Quake 1) Install Quake. 2) Update Quake to latest version, 1.06. Obtain the patch directly from iD Software, here http://www.idsoftware.com/quake/index.html. The file is entitled q101-106.zip 3) Patch your current version of Quake by unzipping the file into your Quake directory. Overwrite any file and then run patch.exe 4) Obtain the GLQuake exectuable and patch from 3Dfiles.com at http://www.3dfiles.com/patches/quake.shtml. 5) Run glq1114.exe and install all features. 6) Obtain OpenGL.exe from the OpenGL directory on your CD. Double click and install the patch. 7) In the directory C:\3Dfx\OpenGL, copy the file 3DfxOGL.dll into your Quake2 directory. First, rename the file opengl32.dll to opengl32.bak. Then rename 3Dfxogl.dll to opengl32.dll. Quake2 1) Install Quake2. 2) Obtain OpenGL.exe from the OpenGL directory on your CD. Double click and install the patch. 3) In the directory C:\3Dfx\OpenGL, copy the file 3DfxOGL.dll into your Quake2 directory. First, rename the file ref_gl.dll to ref_gl.bak. Then rename 3DfxOGL.dll ref_gl.dll. 4) Start the game. From the menu, select Video. For the driver, choose Default OpenGL and hit apply. 5) Play Quake2! Hexen2 1) Install Hexen2. 2) Obtain OpenGL.exe from the OpenGL directory on your CD. Double click and install the patch. 3) In the directory C:\3Dfx\OpenGL, copy the file 3DfxOGL.dll into your Hexen2 directory. First, rename the file opengl32.dll to opengl32.bak. Then rename 3Dfxogl.dll to opengl32.dll. 4) Start the game. From the menu, select Video. For the driver, choose Default OpenGL and hit apply. 5) Play Hexen2!
